Your vote counts!

Or does it?

I’m back… well, sort of. In RL (it does exist apparently) I’m laid up due to ill health temporary I hope, so am not at my residance. I’m sat at my laptop, unable to run my mining fleet, but everything is pretty much set up to look after itself. I have a trusted friend sorting the 1 account that needs skilling up. “Theres no trust in Eve” well… there is in some cases. If I couln’t trust anyone I wouldn’t play… simple as that. He trusts me and I trust him… I am looking after several billion isks of his bpos while I researched them and copied them… and then they get assembled into freighter bpo packs and sold, before we split the profits.

Anywho… the reason I’m posting this…

CSM 8/9/10? I forget…

I never bother voting anymore… since it’s basically which alliance is going to get its chair on the CSM… so I don’t really see the point. I never bother with all the rhetoric… I’d rather just stick to doing what I’m doing. Hell, I could drop 7 votes in any direction I wished… but CBA…

So sorry CSM… but I have about as much faith in you as I do in all politics… f*** all

As  I see it, the CSM was just a CCP tool to appease the revolting player base… and it only partially worked… And before anyone says “The csm matters to the players”… well… look at the total number of accounts and compare that with how many people bother to vote… I wonder if it will actually hit 50%… And since the only people who get in are supported by the large alliances the general capsuleer doesn’t have anything to get behind.

I’ve tried suggesting ideas that a lot of people thought would be good, but because they didn’t benefit the alliances they were just shot down or ignored. CCP and the CSM are both apparently as corrupt as each other. CCP constantly bend their will to the alliances whim.. take the nullsec sites for a starter. We had sanctums and Havens in most nullsec sectors (sectors we worked hard to increase the military level on) then ccp decided the better sites would only drop on the better quality nullsec regions. It was to encourage the baby alliance to push back at the larger alliances… BULLSHIT. The larger alliances were pissed off that smaller alliances would dare to have sanctums and forced ccp to bend to their will.

Rant over…

My fleet has now reached 7 accounts… and we make quite a shock when we land 😀 Indeed… I had a fleet land on us and start to bounce my fleet around while I continued to mine… before the penny dropped and we realized we were all blue to the same alliance… lol kills the boredom!

My new miner is about 2 weeks from being able to fly a hulk… I took the step of another account because I knew my pc could handle the 7 accounts (its getting close) on minimum graphics. I might need to look at a new g-card soon, and thinking about getting a hybrid SSD drive, but bumping up my memory is looking like a no go… that might end up being a new build – eventually. I started a new job last year so I’m slowly getting myself finacially straight(er) but this is impacting on my eve availability (always the way!)… maybe one day I’ll find a better balance to the EVE/Work thing…

At one stage last year I was filling 2 freighter loads a night, but that has dropped down to 1 mostly, although I do often sneak in 2 at the weekends. I’ve also been encouraged/nagged to refit my fleet to T2 xtals and strips, for the increased capacity… and although I do see the benfits of them, I liked being able to hit what I wanted. Some of my alliance buddies have complained that ccp need to give some recognisability between the roids and xtals… at the moment theres no clear way to see which xtal is for what, without an indepth look… we need something doing to simplify the problem!

Does anyone think we should be allowed to run Rorquals in highsec…? Since thier use in lowsec and null is going to be negated by the leadership boost nerf perhaps they ought to be allowed in highsec? Otherwise I can see a class of ship pretty much dying a death…

Don’t fly straight, and I’ll try not to be a stranger…

Over the top!

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , on December 28, 2012 by maniac69uk

Well, after a LOT of umming and arring I’ve done what I said I wouldn’t do…. I’ve joined “the enemy”!!

When I was with the Northern Coalition we had lots of battles with the soviet bloc alliances, and it was they who reportedly hired PL. So that put the Red alliances in a bad light to me… even when MM decided not to fight (or even TRY to) for our home sectors in Vale. One of my friends in-game joined one of the Solar corps and I was very “unchristian” in some of my comments…. but the more I heard, and the more I thought about the fact MM abandoned us… I decided “sod it”. So far they have been a lot more friendly than the NC ever were…

Now… I’m a carebear at heart, as you all probably know… and being able to mine in nullsec with very little interference is very nice! You still have to watch local for neuts and reds, but more often than not its the rats you are watching out for!!! So the rest of my fleet will be joining “Treasures Collectors”, and we will be stripping the belts out here!!! There is PVP opportunities out here if you so wish, and I have some tasty ships here to play with as well, when I feel like a little “wet work”!

Training wise… well

I have diverted back to getting all the ore skills to at least level 4 so I can use the T2 xtals. Its surprising how much faster a hulk can mine with T2 strips and T2 xtals. I never bothered with the T2 setup in highsec as the roids were so much smaller… 2 cycles and the roid would pop! I got fed up with constantly swapping xtals.

My main alt is improving her scanning skills…. someone has to find the hidden grav belts, so it would be handy to have someone else to cover the job!

Alt 2 has dropped onto the xtal skills, although she is right at the start so it’ll be T1 for a long time. I’m even considering bringing my last alt in to help mine faster!!!

My wifes char is remaining in highsec, as a pos caretaker. She can also haul stuff to this corps pick up station ready to be shipped to me… since we occasionally have a wardec…!

No,seriously… WTF is the point of wardeccing a nullsec alliance…?? If you want to fight come and fight us… don’t sit in highsec and wait for the occasional ship to fly through…

What did we all think about the presents from CCP??? Anything….? A little Meh on the main… Mind you… what did I expect… really…..

The isk train cometh!

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , on November 24, 2012 by maniac69uk

Geeze… what do I have to do to make isk? I’ve currently got 1 rorqual on the market and 2 orcas…. all well within the market price! I decided when my alts carrier went into the oven I’d mine and sell, but last night I got asked if I could fulfill an order in a couple of weeks, so now I’m stockpiling in preparation of a big order that may or may not emerge! Oh well, at least I’ll have the ore to sell if it falls through. I just need to decide what level to have the cutoff for holding onto ore before I start to sell again!
Really I don’t need to keep any of it, because my rorqual stock pile is secure in my hanger (although I borrowed from it and replaced).
I’ve decided to reduce the corp pos as it’s an isk hole atm… it’s just not covering the fuel bills the way my maths worked out. The only thing I couldn’t figure into my calculations was the market being flooded by the end product and no one buying most of the time. One of my buddys has suggested doing research jobs, which I could get away with on a smaller pos which means less fuel bills. We shall see how that works!

Most of my training has dropped onto covering capital ships, as I realised my alt had just overtaken my main in that field… not a good thing! The next week or so will be solid cap skills!

Once more into the breach (again?)

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , , , on November 18, 2012 by maniac69uk

It must be that time of year again… doesn’t it come round quick?

Yes… the “I’m bored… what can I do now?” time. A few of us carebears (including 1 that doesn’t think he is) have been mulling over nullsec alliance invites.. Once trader has joined the “gay russians” as we like to call them on every opportunity (usually after he has lost a ship due to lack of support). Anywho.. I’m weighing up all my options as I don’t want anything too small or too large… I’ve tried both…

In the meantime I’m prepping for the transition… I’m building a carrier for my alt (again since I sold the last one) amd planning on what to do with the pos. I’ll leave ship aquisition until I decide where I am going (and been acepted..) since most alliances have thier own ship requirements. I’m still mining atm.. I figure I’ll need a healthy bank balance for the move since pvp is a massive drain on the wallet! I’ll also park 2 chars whilst I’m away. If it looks like I can do some mining there I may bring them in; time will tell.

Training wise…

I’m currently topping up all my shield comp skills to level 5. My main alt is currently doing her armor comp skills to level 5. Although I normally fly armor ships it can’t hurt to improve my resistances on shields. The longer it takes to get through my shields the better!

Don’t fly straight!

P.S. If anyone is after a rorqual… I have one up for sale…

Mining my own business

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , , on November 4, 2012 by maniac69uk

Well, this is the 2nd or 3rd time I have written this post… once I deleted it and once my browser had a dicky-fit and lost it… :S

I’ve been spending a bit of time mining recently, although I took some time out to run some missions to get some salvage together fir rig building. I like to build my own rigs as it reduces the cost of putting a new ship together.  Mission running I tend to cheat a little, and do level 3 missions in a marauder… I really ought to do level 4’s but I like to have some backup ships incase it all goes pear-shaped! But when I’m running a light fleet I just use a Kronos and a second account in a Noctis. Its easy, safe and quite boring…. hence why I don’t do it for long! I failed to acquire any Tritanium bars, so I need to remember where I used to mission where I had loads of them!

I’m currently sitting on enough highsec minerals (tritanium, Pyerite, Nocxium, Mexallon, Isogen) to build a rorqual, and to date I nearly have enough to build another! Just another 15 mill Pyerite needed and I may look at a new project. I started working towards doing 4 carriers (again) but decided it was too mammoth a task to hit in 1 go. But if I keep this collecting up its going to be feasable.

This would have to be after I rebuild the carrier for my alt…. Yeah I built 1 out of spares I had kicking around… and promptly sold it for above market value *lol*

Spare parts? Well, every time I complete a cap ship I complete the bpc’s from the pack so inevitably end up with extra components with every build.

I’ve not long ago completed a Rorqual for a buddy which I sold him under the market price. The alliance he was in broke up mid purchase, and although he paid for it I found out he was struggling to cover his plexes and he mentioned to me that the rorqual wasnt selling. I bought it back from him at the same price he paid, and now I have it up for sale. So although I may nearly have the minerals to build another. I’m not sure I would build one at the moment!

Skills-wise, I’ve hit a deadend with some of my chars. One alt is becoming an orca pilot (ability is there, just the leadership to get half decent). My main is doing some old skills (completed Armor reinforcement 5 on all flavours, but looking at shields next. 1st Alt is beefing up her capital ship skills. I’m back in charge of my Wifes account but I don’t have a clue which direction would be helpful for her to go in! I might look at her defensive skills, before looking at her PVP skills – just incase!

The end of the belt….

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , , on August 16, 2012 by maniac69uk

Well, since my last post I left my usual region and took a trip to Gallente space with some miner friends I made back in my home sector. Being under the threat of getting ganked forced the miners to pull togeather and share the names of any possible threats. New chars in local were investigated and any mining ship kills were reported to the group so people could make an informed decision over docking or not. So I took a field trip up to mine with them for 2 weeks, except for the fact they only actually turned up for 1 mining fleet… so I went home again. They are preping to fly out to null to join some scum sucking alliance who shall remain nameless. There was a suggestion I would like to join them until I found out who they were… I couldn’t betray my morals and lower myself to joining them…. I’m not sure they would want me anyway with my pvp history… 😆

I always intended on posting once things had settled down with the summer update.

All in all I believe the only people that will be hapy with the update are the noob miners, since the retreivers have been buffed to being just under the capabilities of a hulk. Hulks have been NERFED. Serioulsy ccp… WTF? Yes… great idea to put ore holds on hulks but to limit them regardless of what fittings is a pain in the ass. AND… they dont mine a lot faster than they did before, I can fill my orca about 8 minutes quicker with 3 hulks… which makes an increase in mining time of around 10 seconds a cycle per strip… Hell… keep your increase in speed and give me back my cargo bay that can actually mean I’m not flitting from screen to screen every 20 seconds… In the time it took me to write that passage 2 of my hulks had filled up and stopped mining…

One of my buddies informs me his retreiver can mine ice as fast as a mackinaw. I’ve not tried out the new ice rigs as I’ve only just bought the bpo but I’m hoping they distinguish the mackinaw from a ret otherwise something is seriously messed up.

Rant over!

I’ve stumbled about from project to project recently.. But one of my close friends has suggested I sold the minerals I mine instead of selling ships, and for a time I did. I also decided to collect enough minerals to build a rorqual. Not to actually build another, but since the rorqual has the biggest ore requirement of any ship (below supercap) I figured it was the best target. Any minerals left over after I hit my target have been sold; and yes… I’ve shifted a bit of isogen since I had virtually done that one before I started….

As I type this I am just finalizing the last of my targetted mining… just in time for the minerals market to collapse….Oh well…at least I am in a position to be able to complete any capital ship order that comes my way, although I am intending on not touching those minerals if I can help it.

My primary alt has finished ALL the leadership skills now, so I am training her up to fly a carrier… so I could have 2 chars in carriers in lowsec (or nullsec should that idea ever seem like a wise move…)

My main char drifts from one skill project to another,,,, theres so many directions I want him to go… cuurently its being able to fly the Charon, since I keep building them but none of my chars can fly one…. after that I think I’ll work on some of the tanking certificates since Elite tanking is the next step 😀

Back down the mines!

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , on June 30, 2012 by maniac69uk

Well, since I last posted I’ve had an unsettled eve attendance, in that RL stepped up and forced me to restrict my eve attendance. I’m used to getting on my own pc at some point everyday, even if its only to clear a belt but sat on my laptop on the sofa just doesnt feel as comfotable for the long periods that mining entails! So I have been struggling to finish off a charon build for a buddy, in the middle of which I managed to slot in an Orca build for someone else. Well the orca is on a contract awaiting the client to have the funds hit his account and the charon is in the oven for another 8 days (if I remember correctly). Next week I should be resuming my usual schedules now that my RL duties are (hopefully) returning to normal!

I’m told Hulkageddon has all but died out. As I predicted just after the goons announced a perma-geddon people will get bored of anything eventually.  Anyone that has lived in nullsec knows CTA’s are ok when they only come along every so often, but when a CTA is called when you log in, another when that finishes and then another… well everyone gets peeved at it eventually. We all know they are necessary but I think we all complain a little when they land… even if its only to ourselves., especially if we had other things in mind. PVP is fine in roaming fleets… there’s nothing worse than blindly following some idiot FC (Junior anyone?) into lowsec where you get lagged out and lose your ship. Yes, time dilation is in action now but I’ve still had lag this year when TD was in force. Jeeze CCP… make your mind up please…. TD or Lag… not both lol

I managed to drop a clanger last week in my distracted state. I requested some Blue Pring Copy packs for 1 charon and 2 orcas from a buddy. What felt like days later (next day actually) I decided to buy a charon and orca bpc pack as I hadn’t heard from him. I get back to my construction base to get a communication from him…. “packs are on contract”….. oh shhhhhite! I bought them anyway so now have my next 3 orders planned!!! removes some of the difficulty of deciding what to build I suppose!!

My main is currently learning BC 5 so I can either go onto command ships (it would unlock them all) or at least improve my bc damage outputs. I’m considering trying to get this char able to fly ANY sub-cap ship. Its going to be sods law I just about reach that goal and ccp will throw a spanner in the works!!

My alt is currently finishing the leadership skills. She has 40 days left and then I can do her remap and take some points away from charisma.

My latest alt has fully covered the hulk, so now the long slog to complete the core skills. I like all my pilots to have at least basic core skills, although elite is 98 days (with a remap). Once mining drones 5 completes I’m going to have to sit down and sort this out!!
