Your vote counts!

Or does it?

I’m back… well, sort of. In RL (it does exist apparently) I’m laid up due to ill health temporary I hope, so am not at my residance. I’m sat at my laptop, unable to run my mining fleet, but everything is pretty much set up to look after itself. I have a trusted friend sorting the 1 account that needs skilling up. “Theres no trust in Eve” well… there is in some cases. If I couln’t trust anyone I wouldn’t play… simple as that. He trusts me and I trust him… I am looking after several billion isks of his bpos while I researched them and copied them… and then they get assembled into freighter bpo packs and sold, before we split the profits.

Anywho… the reason I’m posting this…

CSM 8/9/10? I forget…

I never bother voting anymore… since it’s basically which alliance is going to get its chair on the CSM… so I don’t really see the point. I never bother with all the rhetoric… I’d rather just stick to doing what I’m doing. Hell, I could drop 7 votes in any direction I wished… but CBA…

So sorry CSM… but I have about as much faith in you as I do in all politics… f*** all

As  I see it, the CSM was just a CCP tool to appease the revolting player base… and it only partially worked… And before anyone says “The csm matters to the players”… well… look at the total number of accounts and compare that with how many people bother to vote… I wonder if it will actually hit 50%… And since the only people who get in are supported by the large alliances the general capsuleer doesn’t have anything to get behind.

I’ve tried suggesting ideas that a lot of people thought would be good, but because they didn’t benefit the alliances they were just shot down or ignored. CCP and the CSM are both apparently as corrupt as each other. CCP constantly bend their will to the alliances whim.. take the nullsec sites for a starter. We had sanctums and Havens in most nullsec sectors (sectors we worked hard to increase the military level on) then ccp decided the better sites would only drop on the better quality nullsec regions. It was to encourage the baby alliance to push back at the larger alliances… BULLSHIT. The larger alliances were pissed off that smaller alliances would dare to have sanctums and forced ccp to bend to their will.

Rant over…

My fleet has now reached 7 accounts… and we make quite a shock when we land 😀 Indeed… I had a fleet land on us and start to bounce my fleet around while I continued to mine… before the penny dropped and we realized we were all blue to the same alliance… lol kills the boredom!

My new miner is about 2 weeks from being able to fly a hulk… I took the step of another account because I knew my pc could handle the 7 accounts (its getting close) on minimum graphics. I might need to look at a new g-card soon, and thinking about getting a hybrid SSD drive, but bumping up my memory is looking like a no go… that might end up being a new build – eventually. I started a new job last year so I’m slowly getting myself finacially straight(er) but this is impacting on my eve availability (always the way!)… maybe one day I’ll find a better balance to the EVE/Work thing…

At one stage last year I was filling 2 freighter loads a night, but that has dropped down to 1 mostly, although I do often sneak in 2 at the weekends. I’ve also been encouraged/nagged to refit my fleet to T2 xtals and strips, for the increased capacity… and although I do see the benfits of them, I liked being able to hit what I wanted. Some of my alliance buddies have complained that ccp need to give some recognisability between the roids and xtals… at the moment theres no clear way to see which xtal is for what, without an indepth look… we need something doing to simplify the problem!

Does anyone think we should be allowed to run Rorquals in highsec…? Since thier use in lowsec and null is going to be negated by the leadership boost nerf perhaps they ought to be allowed in highsec? Otherwise I can see a class of ship pretty much dying a death…

Don’t fly straight, and I’ll try not to be a stranger…

The isk train cometh!

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , on November 24, 2012 by maniac69uk

Geeze… what do I have to do to make isk? I’ve currently got 1 rorqual on the market and 2 orcas…. all well within the market price! I decided when my alts carrier went into the oven I’d mine and sell, but last night I got asked if I could fulfill an order in a couple of weeks, so now I’m stockpiling in preparation of a big order that may or may not emerge! Oh well, at least I’ll have the ore to sell if it falls through. I just need to decide what level to have the cutoff for holding onto ore before I start to sell again!
Really I don’t need to keep any of it, because my rorqual stock pile is secure in my hanger (although I borrowed from it and replaced).
I’ve decided to reduce the corp pos as it’s an isk hole atm… it’s just not covering the fuel bills the way my maths worked out. The only thing I couldn’t figure into my calculations was the market being flooded by the end product and no one buying most of the time. One of my buddys has suggested doing research jobs, which I could get away with on a smaller pos which means less fuel bills. We shall see how that works!

Most of my training has dropped onto covering capital ships, as I realised my alt had just overtaken my main in that field… not a good thing! The next week or so will be solid cap skills!

Once more into the breach (again?)

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , , , on November 18, 2012 by maniac69uk

It must be that time of year again… doesn’t it come round quick?

Yes… the “I’m bored… what can I do now?” time. A few of us carebears (including 1 that doesn’t think he is) have been mulling over nullsec alliance invites.. Once trader has joined the “gay russians” as we like to call them on every opportunity (usually after he has lost a ship due to lack of support). Anywho.. I’m weighing up all my options as I don’t want anything too small or too large… I’ve tried both…

In the meantime I’m prepping for the transition… I’m building a carrier for my alt (again since I sold the last one) amd planning on what to do with the pos. I’ll leave ship aquisition until I decide where I am going (and been acepted..) since most alliances have thier own ship requirements. I’m still mining atm.. I figure I’ll need a healthy bank balance for the move since pvp is a massive drain on the wallet! I’ll also park 2 chars whilst I’m away. If it looks like I can do some mining there I may bring them in; time will tell.

Training wise…

I’m currently topping up all my shield comp skills to level 5. My main alt is currently doing her armor comp skills to level 5. Although I normally fly armor ships it can’t hurt to improve my resistances on shields. The longer it takes to get through my shields the better!

P.S. If anyone is after a rorqual… I have one up for sale…

Mining my own business

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , , on November 4, 2012 by maniac69uk

Well, this is the 2nd or 3rd time I have written this post… once I deleted it and once my browser had a dicky-fit and lost it… :S

I’ve been spending a bit of time mining recently, although I took some time out to run some missions to get some salvage together fir rig building. I like to build my own rigs as it reduces the cost of putting a new ship together.  Mission running I tend to cheat a little, and do level 3 missions in a marauder… I really ought to do level 4’s but I like to have some backup ships incase it all goes pear-shaped! But when I’m running a light fleet I just use a Kronos and a second account in a Noctis. Its easy, safe and quite boring…. hence why I don’t do it for long! I failed to acquire any Tritanium bars, so I need to remember where I used to mission where I had loads of them!

I’m currently sitting on enough highsec minerals (tritanium, Pyerite, Nocxium, Mexallon, Isogen) to build a rorqual, and to date I nearly have enough to build another! Just another 15 mill Pyerite needed and I may look at a new project. I started working towards doing 4 carriers (again) but decided it was too mammoth a task to hit in 1 go. But if I keep this collecting up its going to be feasable.

This would have to be after I rebuild the carrier for my alt…. Yeah I built 1 out of spares I had kicking around… and promptly sold it for above market value *lol*

Spare parts? Well, every time I complete a cap ship I complete the bpc’s from the pack so inevitably end up with extra components with every build.

I’ve not long ago completed a Rorqual for a buddy which I sold him under the market price. The alliance he was in broke up mid purchase, and although he paid for it I found out he was struggling to cover his plexes and he mentioned to me that the rorqual wasnt selling. I bought it back from him at the same price he paid, and now I have it up for sale. So although I may nearly have the minerals to build another. I’m not sure I would build one at the moment!

Skills-wise, I’ve hit a deadend with some of my chars. One alt is becoming an orca pilot (ability is there, just the leadership to get half decent). My main is doing some old skills (completed Armor reinforcement 5 on all flavours, but looking at shields next. 1st Alt is beefing up her capital ship skills. I’m back in charge of my Wifes account but I don’t have a clue which direction would be helpful for her to go in! I might look at her defensive skills, before looking at her PVP skills – just incase!

new family

Well, I wasn’t wanting to change corp, but I did. Yes I left my beloved corp and have temporerily joined an Incursion corp (Ground Zero). So far they seem like a good little group. Not decided on my future as I am supposed to be joining a nullsec corp after xmas, but we shall have to see!

Last week I had a bit of a fail hapon, and managed to lose a nightmare due to tiredness. I knew I shouldn’t have logged in really but felt I needed to make some isk towards my plex.

My mistake was having a cap xfer and when someone requested cap I targeted them to assist as another spawn happoned. I started locking up the targets and activated my guns, not realizing the rat I had clicked on had not been accepted by the client. A warning came up and I presumed the basilisk was a wt some just clicked past it. And then I realized… but it was too late; my cap was empty and my ship died. Oh well… I grabbed a shuttle after my loot was returned and headed to Jita for another nightmare bpc. I was manually jumping back to my base and as I landed on gate I saw a red ship on the overview. Some a-hole was using a smartbomb and my fragile shuttle died and I woke in my home sector. So with 2 bil lost I logged in anger.

So next year to avoid this…

No assist modules on a dps ship.. the top slots will be drone boost modules.

Take a bigger ship or covert ship (cloaked) to make the journey. Bigger to take the damage and cloaky so they can’t see you coming on overview!

Training wise… everything carries on as it was before..

Jump drive Calibration 5 is down to 5 days (yay..)

My alt is back on level 5ing the leadership skills (seige warfare specialist V in 4 days)

The wifes Char has just unlocked T2 cruise missiles so she could fly my navy issue Scorpion (I’m thinking more of a delivery pilot 😀 )

My next incursion ship is the rattlesnake I was using to run level 4’s (with a refit). I just need to refine the fit now, as theres a lot of ideas how to do it. I’m going BIG tank and good damage but a corp mate suggested minimum tank and maximum damage. I think since its my ship I’ll do it my way 😀

The Rorqual came out the oven today so now I just need to save up and fit the thing. On a plus side I dont need to rush into it… I can take my time and build up since I have 3 plexes to buy first… and I need to build up the isk a lot as my wallet has been a bit poorly recently!

I know christmas is pretty much over, but enjoy what is left and have a good new year!

A new direction

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , on November 30, 2011 by maniac69uk

Well my training has taken a slight diversion for 30 days… (30 days left of a 35 day skill 😀 )
I’ve decided to learn jump drive calibration V so I can get the most out of my capitol ships.
I’ve currently got 2 Thanatos, but the first (and only fitted than) is many jumps from where I need it. So I have a choice.. jump it the 4 or 5 jumps to get it to my exit sector or strip it, move the parts and sell the ship. So I am learning the skill to maximize my jump capability. I believe the jump freighters skill also help (someone explain that please) according to some of the jump planner sites I’ve used. I still have to look at moving some of my crap to reduce the amount of stations its in….once day I’ll get it down to single figures!!!

Crucible has arrived…

Thoughts? To me its just another tarted up version of Eve. Some of the new ships look nice, I even bought a BPO for the Caldari BC and put 2 into production last night 😀

I also started my Rorqual build, although thats going to take a while even with 2 chars producing the modules. I ran out of Zydrine somehow last night so I must have under estimated the requirements! I know I’m going to have to do some mining at some point as I am over producing the modules. Basically for capital ships I tend to buy bpc “packs”, which contain bpc’s for more modules than we need (being as close to perfect build skills as possible) and I tend to just complete the bpc; hence we have parts left over after every ship build. The hope is we will eventually have enough for a cap ship without building many components! We will have paid for it theoretically, but it will still feel like a free ship!

The one ship I still want to get (and I’m about 7 days away from) is a jump freighter so I may see if any of our parts could help to one of those. An excorp mate was really helpfull with his JF when we had to escape Vale and now I’m looking at going back into null it would be helpfull to have one of these as well as the 2 carriers I have on hand (plus a rorquel by then). I just hope the nullsec region isn’t too far from my favourite lowsec sector!

I’m avoiding doing incursions as I feel rough as hell. I’d rather get some mining done where I can dock up, or it wont hurt if I fall asleep!!

A matter of isk

Posted in Eve with tags , , , , , on November 12, 2011 by maniac69uk

Well, I’ve temporerily diversifyed into a new task. A couple of my ex-corpies have set up thier own industrial corp and are trying to recruit miners. Now, I know from experiance getting commited players is like finding rocking horse excriment. You’ll get loads that will join, take what they can and leave… some will play occasionally but not really commit to the corp properly and occasionally you will find someone who will want to put the effort in.

My corp currently has 1 commited member that will not mine… at all. But he runs incursions a lot which makes the corp isk… and I’m happy with the trade off. It means the corp is self sufficient even before we sell any ships… or anything else.

As I was saying, my friends new corp needs minerals to build ships to sell… so I’ve offered them a deal. If they don’t like the idea thats fine, but the other person I’ve offered the deal to has jumped at it. I’m basically selling them minerals below the market price. Its a special deal for some old friends and it will make us some isk whilst we help someone else get started.

I could make a mint selling on the market, but I’d rather it helped someone else, as I’m not going to go short 😀 E.g I’m selling trite to someone about 1isk below market price… 20 mill trite will set you back 50 million isk.
As I put in one of my corp mails… you only get out of Eve what you put in.

I figure this project will tide me over until I can afford my new cpu which looks like it will be after xmas now. Especially as I have a possible job change coming up. One way or another!!! The killer is… I’m currently paid weekly (weakly really lol) but 1 of the companies I’ve been talking to is monthly… so I’d effectively have to work 7 weeks without any cashflow. Always a painfull start, as I’d have to make sure I could cover my gametime with plexes.

Training wise..
I’m still working on the gunnery skills… I figure even though I daren’t risk going into a fight I may as well max out my gun skills for when I can… so I’m doing all the extra gunnery skills for extra damage, less cap etc.
My Alt is still covering the leadership skills, although I’m seriously thinking about getting her up to mom level. Since she is my second account, I think I could bear her being stuck in a coffin more than my main. She shouldn’t be that far from learning Amarr carriers realistically since she already has marauders trained.
I am also currently using my wifes char whilst she is on a time out… so I’ve got her working on the core certificates. Once she hits expert on the core skills I may drop her onto tanking as I’ve noticed she’s seriously lacking in that department.
